What is a FUE hair transplant performed with a sapphire scalpel?

Constant technological development has paved the way for new and innovative techniques in capillary transplantation and anti-fall therapies. Capillary transplantation has evolved and progressed dramatically over the past few years, turning into a minimally invasive surgical procedure, thanks to the more efficient use of new medical devices. The FUE method, considered one of the most widespread and modern techniques of capillary transplantation, has taken a further step forward thanks to the use of special sapphire scalpels.

 

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN SAPPHIRE FUE AND CLASSIC FUE HAIR TRANSPLANT

 

The Sapphire FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) for the opening of micro channels in the receiving area uses a sapphire scalpel, instead of the common steel scalpel. The FUE using a sapphire scalpel implements the process of the FUE method.

The blades are designed to minimize the formation of crusts and accelerate the recovery process by opening smaller micro channels within the receiving area. In FUE conducted with a sapphire scalpel, after the patient is subjected to local anesthesia, the follicular units are extracted one by one from the donor area using a micro motor equipped with a punch with a variable size of 0.6 – 0.7 – 0.8 mm.

To date, the best way to open micro channels is to use a sapphire scalpel. Follicular units are inserted into the channels.
The micro incisions, of the same length as the follicular units, are created using sharp, smooth and resistant sapphire scalpels, with variable dimensions of 1.0 – 1.3 – 1.5 mm. Consequently, it is possible to open more channels, allowing the hair bulbs to be transplanted closer to each other.
